The Blessings of Gratitude

Psalm 118:1

Give thanks to the Lord , for he is good; his love endures forever.

Thanksgiving became a national holiday as a result of the Pilgrims commitment to show appreciation for their American heritage and for the blessings of God. We should be grateful for the same blessings during this season of thankfulness.

I. We Should Be Thankful for Every Wonderful Blessing:                 Psalm 118:2-4

       1.     God¹s name.                                  Psalm 8:1

       2.     God¹s glory.                                   Psalm 8:1

       3.     God¹s creation.                              Psalm 8:3

       4.     God¹s watchcare.                           Psalm 8:4

II. We Are Called to Be Specific in Our Praise to God:       Psalm 118:5-8

1.     Invited to love God.                         Psalm 117:1

      2.     Inspired to adore God.                    Psalm 117:2

      3.     Expected to shout ³Amen!²              Psalm 118:15

III. We Are Challenged to Be Missionaries with an Attitude:      Psalm 118:9-17

     1.     Share light from God.                    John 1:4

     2.     Share the gift of grace.                 Ephesians 2:8-9
